About Surrey ASBAH
- Surrey ASBAH is affiliated to national ASBAH and serves people living in the County of Surrey and the London Boroughs of Croydon, Hounslow, Kingston, Merton, Richmond and Sutton.
Most of our members are drawn from this area but the Association welcomes members from other localities.
- Surrey ASBAH provides support and advice:
- by sharing information and experiences
- by providing a social environment in which people and their families feel at ease and where their disability is understood.
- a local adviser is a first source of advice to families. The adviser has ready access to a range of literature and helps families directly or points them to more specialist agencies.
Social events are held, including a meal out at least once a year. We also visit an outdoor activity centre where all the family can participate. For more information, see our Activities page.
Surrey ASBAH supports research into medical problems, for example those associated with hydrocephalus and means of overcoming them. Surrey ASBAH helps local people with mobility problems to purchase items such as lightweight wheelchairs and other mobility aids. For more information see Grants below. Grants
Small grants are available to help towards the cost of personal and household items for children and adults with spina bifida or hydrocephalus. Other sources of funding will be looked at before a grant can be considered. Applications should be made via the Adviser who can provide more details about the process.

How to join Surrey ASBAH
A membership fee of £10.00 per family is payable on the 1st January each year. This includes the subscription to Link magazine and the Surrey ASBAH Newsletter. Also, members are eligible to join the Committee.
